When Lianne Webb took the stage at the November 2022 Miss Long Island pageant, it was hard not to notice her physical beauty. But during the speaking portion of the event, it was impossible not to see her inner radiance, her intelligence, and her love for children. Clearly, the judges saw it, too. She walked away with the crown. Webb will represent Long Island for the next year and compete for Miss New York USA this summer.

Webb, a Baldwin resident, has long been an advocate for children. When she’s not glammed up at events, she’s a dedicated teacher, behavioral therapist, and a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor. “My platform has been shifting into youth empowerment within our communities,” says Webb, who works with schools to create extracurricular and afterschool programs. She created an initiative called “Lee’s Legacy” to serve low-income students. One of her programs includes giving away free, customized prom suits to students in need. She also has plans to implement a scholarship fund that will be academic or community-service based.

The Miss Long Island event was Webb’s second pageant—her first being a Miss New York pageant, where she didn’t place, but received an award. There, she heard about Miss Long Island and decided to try again. “I went into it thinking ‘whatever happens, happens,’ and then I won,” she says. “It was amazing!”
