8 Nail Polish Trends for 2025

Celebrity nail artist Pattie Yankee shares the shades that will be on everyone’s tips this year.

#ManiMonday can be heavy on nail art. We love seeing—and sharing—the creative and elaborate designs our local nail pros create each week. But there is still a high demand for solid shades—as stand-alone nail trends or as a base layer for nail art. So, which shades can we expect to come out on top this year? Celebrity nail artist and Pretty Local Advisory Board Member Pattie Yankee forecasts the nail colors that will be most requested in 2025.

1. Mocha Mousse

As Pretty Local has reported, Pantone, the global color authority, named Mocha Mousse the color of the year for 2025. It’s a rich, warm, and creamy brown. “Representative of the ‘global mood of connection, comfort, and harmony,’ this rich, mellow brown is the shade you’re bound to see on everyone’s nails,” says Yankee.

Try it: Pattie Yankee Polish in PYP6 Down to Earth, $10. “This earthy, deep nude polish provides a natural and elegant look that goes with whatever you’re wearing that day,” she says.

2. Deep Brown

Noticing a theme? Brown is taking over as the new neutral, says Yankee. In addition to Mocha Mousse, we’re seeing deep browns that complement boho- and rock-chic fashion trends.

Try it: PYP 61 Strong Foundation, $10. “It’s the perfect balance between bold and classic,” says Yankee.

3. The Naked Mani

It’s the clean-girl vibe. “If your style is minimal and understated, the naked manicure is what you’ll gravitate toward this year,” Yankee says.

Try it: PYP118 Bare-ly There, $10. “It’s an ultra-sheer pinky-nude that compliments any skin tone.”

4. Lavender Haze

Yankee says we’ve been on a hiatus from purple polish since the 2010s, but the bright hue is staging a comeback in 2025. This year, expect to see sheer, soft lavender shades—another excellent option for the minimalist mani.

Try it: PYP68 Unbothered, $10. “This pastel blue-lavender is the perfect intro to purple nails this year.”

5. Soft Sparkle

Chunky glitter is out; fine micro-glitter is in. Sparkly polishes give your manicure extra charm, whether you wear it on all your digits or just one accent nail.

Try it: PYP19 It’s Lit, $10. “This silver, iridescent, micro glitter polish blends perfectly with any color to give your nails a shine that’s bound to catch eyes,” says Yankee.

6. Chrome

“Chrome isn’t going anywhere in 2025,” says Yankee. So, how do you achieve this look with regular polish? Yankee has a pearly shade that layers over any shade to create a chrome finish.

Try it: PYP101 Pearl of Wisdom, $10. “It transforms any base color immediately into your new favorite chrome look,” says Yankee. Plus, it’s universally flattering on everyone. It’s especially good for those with an “office siren” aesthetic, a corporate fashion style that’s sexy but still work-appropriate.

7. Rich Wines

“A red wine nail will never be out of style,” says Yankee. “It continues to be a staple throughout the decades.”

Try it: Yankee handpicked three of her favorite red wine shades. PYP57- Grapes on the Vine, $10, a red with brown undertones. PYP116 Ur Heart’s Desire, $10, a lighter maple red. And PYP-26 Ransom Note, $10, a shimmery, burgundy red.

8. High-Shine

This isn’t a color trend but more of a finishing touch. In 2025, the shinier the manicure, the better, says Yankee.

Try it: PYP2 Protect Top Coat, $10. It will give your manicure a glossy look and ensure that it lasts as long as possible without chipping or nail discoloration, she says.
